Fallout 76 Update Set To Bring Fear To Players In New Boss Event (VIDEO)
Fallout 76 may not have initially been the game that many fans wanted, but it has grown quite a bit in the hopes of drawing in more and more players. Bethesda has added a lot of new content since releasing in 2018 to try and make up for what the game originally lacked – such as the arrival of NPC’s within the wastelands of West Virginia, new enemies and monsters to go up against, the repair of technical problems that exist within the title, and more. Now, the game is looking to take things a step further by introducing a “fear” mechanic that will make things far more difficult for players to fight against the scariest creatures in Appalachia.
During the recent QuakeCon virtual showcase, the developers were able to share some of the plans they have for future content, including a new boss event called “The Colossal Problem.” Reported by Prima Games, the event will see players taking on a Wendigo unlike any they’ve ever encountered before, taking up to 8 players and 30,000 hit points to defeat. As if that was terrifying enough already, the boss event will also mark the release of a new fear mechanic that will act similar to those in RPG titles like Dragon Age or the Elder Scrolls franchise.
In titles such as these, players are able to conjure spells that send enemies fleeing with overwhelming fear. In the new Fallout 76 update, however, it will be the players themselves that lose control and are forced to run away in sheer terror. For the purposes of The Colossal Problem, the incredibly tough Wendigo boss will let out a horrific scream that will terrify players into losing control of their character, who will run away from the creature unarmed. Though, the fright will only last for a few seconds at a time.
Fallout 76 is currently available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Players on the PC version of the game can test out the upcoming feature for themselves right now in the PTR, while everybody else will have to wait until the new content releases in the base game. Though, there’s no official release date set for it quite yet. Will you be braving the scary new Wendigo in Appalachia?
