Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Delayed Until 2021

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

Since being announced last year, developer Hardsuit Labs has continually shown off the urban undead wares of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 on several occasions, whether it be through periodic gameplay trailers or fleshing out the game’s wealth of ‘World of Darkness’ lore. Though fans were supposed to have their chance to check out the RPG sometime later in 2020, it now appears the anticipated sequel is now being held off until well into next year.

Disclosed in a recent post on social media, VTM: Bloodlines 2 was officially delayed until 2021, with the team citing shortcomings with their”quality bar and ambitions” for the tabletop-based title. “Our goal has always been to deliver the best game possible, to immerse you into a Seattle re-imagined in the World of Darkness, and deliver a worthy successor to the original Bloodlines game.” the post read. “Due to the quality bar and ambitions we have set for ourselves, we have made the difficult decision that we need more time.”

This means that our goal to release in 2020 is no longer possible. Moving launch is one of the changes we are making to ensure the best player experience possible.”

In addition, developers stressed that the decision to delay Bloodlines 2 was not “taken lightly” and assured that more will be revealed “in the coming months.” This will include updated details about a new release date as well as “organizational changes” that will better allow the team to reach their goals. “We understand that this will be a disappointment to many of you, but we also appreciate how our ambition is echoed through many parts of the community,” the post continued. “We hope you understand that, while difficult, this is the right call.”

With the latest information currently far and in-between as of late, it’s not at all surprising to see Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 met with a delay. Hardsuit Labs certainly has a lot to live up to with this particular release as the first VTMB is widely considered to be a cult favorite on PC despite the infamous array of issues plaguing the 2004 title at launch. For this reason, the studio, along with publisher Paradox Interactive, is almost surely taking a careful approach for the sequel, not only to ensure a polished release but to also likely avoid being shown up by another anticipated RPG in this year’s Cyberpunk 2077.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 releases for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X sometime in 2021.
