Action RPG ‘Path of Exile’ Headed to Xbox One (VIDEO)

Path of Exile Title

Another critically acclaimed PC game is headed to console. Grinding Gear Games has announced that their action role-playing game (RPG), Path of Exile, is headed to the Xbox One. Players can expect to to crawl dungeons in a familiar setting “later this year.”

Path of Exile (PoE) was released back in 2013 for PC and has since been very well received. The current overall Steam rating among players is “Very Positive” with almost 40,000 reviews. The game has a similar look and feel of Blizzard’s Diablo series. Currently PoE is free to play on Windows PC, and is on its way to consoles for the first time. On the game’s official website, the team announced:

We’re proud to announce that Path of Exile will be making its console debut on Xbox One later this year! The Xbox One version is also free-to-play and will contain all the content from the PC version, including the upcoming 3.0.0 expansion that includes Act Five.

Path of Exile

Unfortunately, the news of the Xbox One port does not mean that this will be included in Xbox’s Play Anywhere feature. This is due to some minor differences between the two separate versions of the game.

Xbox One players will play on their own realm, separate to the PC realm. This is due to small gameplay differences between the two versions, such as the number of Flask slots and how some skills are targeted. We intend to follow the same content and league release schedule on both the Xbox One and PC versions of Path of Exile.

Players will be able to choose one of seven different character classes, all which have multiple sub-classes. Players will crawl and fight their way through a narrative driven and action heavy series of dungeons. PoE features multiplayer in which yourself and up to five friends can raid dungeons together or face off in PvP (Player vs Player) modes. There are microtransactions, but players will never gain an edge over other players by spending actual money. The transactions are for the aesthetics of your weapons, armor, pets and more.
