Doom Eternal To Feature An Optional ‘Classic Weapon View’ (VIDEO)
The rebooted DOOM franchise has done exceptionally well, bringing the classic feel of the originals while building on the experience to create something fresh. The upcoming DOOM Eternal looks to be quite as impressive as its predecessor, and will hopefully include plenty of nods to the original titles that helped define the shooter genre. Now, it appears as though players will be able to activate a “Classic Weapon View” in DOOM Eternal right from the get-go.
While in a recent stream celebrating DOOM’s 26th Anniversary, the developers touched on an option that would allow for players to get closer to a classic feel for the game called the Classic Weapon Pose. Upon enabling the feature, weapons will be presented in the center of the screen rather than in a more natural off-right position in the Slayer’s hands. This might seem a bit strange to some younger fans but those who have been around the block so to speak will feel right at home with the nostalgic setting.
DOOM Eternal is set to arrive on March 20th of next year for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. While there is a Nintendo Switch version of the title in the works there has yet to be a release date revealed for it, though it has been hinted to be arriving in late 2020.
So, thoughts on the newly revealed weapon pose option? Plan on trying it for yourself once DOOM Eternal releases?
