DOOM Eternal Director “Excited To Play Animal Crossing”
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a light and fluffy franchise filled with happiness and joy, while DOOM Eternal is a glory slaughter-fest filled with rage and blood-soaked hatred. While these two titles are opposites in every conceivable way, both are set to share the same release date of March 20th. Though wildly different, each game is among the most anticipated games of 2020, demonstrating a wide range of tastes with gamers and developers themselves. In fact, DOOM Eternal director Hugo Martin believes this difference is a great example of just how diverse games have become over the years.
While in a recent interview, Martin explained how proud he is to work in the gaming industry, where games of all sizes and shapes are being developed with fun and unique experiences in mind for players. The director also mentioned that he is quite excited about the upcoming Animal Crossing title, appreciating that both New Horizons and DOOM Eternal are getting such a large amount of coverage, despite being total opposites.
I think it’s awesome and it speaks to the amazing diversity that we see in games today. I honestly root for other games and other studios. I’m so proud to work in the game industry and the fact that two games that are so completely different, getting a ton of press, come out on the same day. It’s an incredible time to be in development and I’m excited to play Animal Crossing.”
Martin further expressed his gratefulness by comparing two more titles, Playdead’s Inside and Santa Monica Studio’s God of War. “One of my favorite games is Inside and I just thought that it was just as engaging as any other,” Martin continued. “And God of War. I mean, [between] the two of those games, which one do I like more? I like them both and they’re both completely different.”
DOOM Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons release March 20th, the former making it to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia and the latter releasing exclusively for Nintendo Switch. DOOM Eternal will also join the Nintendo Switch sometime after launch. Let us know your thoughts on Animal Crossing: New Horizons and DOOM Eternal in the comments section below.
