It is no secret that Discord has taken the communication industry by storm. Leaving once popular services in their dust, the company has now set its sights on offering games to their users. The company has always focused on bringing people together, and this seems the next logical step in their process.

Currently in a beta test with around 50,000 users, the Discord storefront will feature a service that allows users to purchase games the staff has thoroughly enjoyed.  From what the company said on their blog, it appears their focus isn’t necessarily on big titles as it is on fun titles:

There’s an abundance of fantastic games. Fantastic games that we missed. Games that we even purchased but never got around to playing. We’re excited to offer you the opportunity to catch up with amazing game experiences you might’ve missed and even mix up what you play with your friends from time to time.”

This is only the start, as Discord expects that the community will influence what is offered as the storefront grows. Their hope is a personal storefront focused on games that they think users will enjoy. Here is a peek at the coming interface for their games:

In addition to the storefront, subscription service Discord Nitro is also getting an update which will grant its subscribers access to new features. A new store tab will also be available upon launch that will give users an easy way to see what’s available. There is no release date for the storefront as of yet, but it seems the team is anxious to get this in the hands of all its users across the board.
