Destiny 2 PC Release to Utilize Steam Client for Digital Purchases

While the launch of Destiny 2 is still months away, information and “leaks” have been making its way around the gaming community like wildfire. One of the biggest news was the fact that Bungie and Activision announced the PC release for the highly anticipated sequel to the original. However, it hasn’t been confirmed as to which client the companies will use in order for digital copy purchases until now.

According to Gadgets 360, “several sources” proved to them that Steam will be the preferred medium for a Destiny 2 PC release. Other than a statement saying so, there isn’t much else to go on. If it turns out to be true, then gamers will be happy to see that another original client won’t be making an appearance among the plethora of others out there.

Of course, that’s not all there is to be excited about. Information on a character named Hawthorne have left many wondering what the connection was to the story. Fortunately, a couple theories seem to put two and two together – namely that the Exo Stranger is Hawthorne. For some resting on the idea that the latter was Maya Sundaresh, there seems to be data seems denying this. Additionally, a physical Collector’s Edition has been confirmed for all major platforms for the game based on official Destiny 2 website information.

Not only are there exclusive collectible items, but there is a lot of it! Included is a neat Frontier Kit boasting a solar panel USB charger, paracord, solar blanket, customizable bag/backpack, and laptop sleeve. There is a Limited and Digital Deluxe Edition for those not looking to spend too much for the gameplay, but still wish to see some unique content.

Destiny 2 will be available September 8th, 2017 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Based on the information provided by Gadgets 360, could it be easily speculated that a digital Steam release is up in the air? Or will a Destiny 2 PC launch be featured on a different client? Perhaps codes will be sold from online retailers like Amazon only.
