Destiny 2 Including an “Easy Button” for Casual Players

Easy Button

Bungie has been stepping up their game for Destiny 2 in many ways, from a deeper story to the inclusion of new clans. Among the changes coming to the sequel the original title that made its debut in 2014 is that of an “easy button” to make the game a more enjoyable experience for the more casual player.

During an interview, director Luke Smith explained that the first Destiny title was not very accommodating for casual players. Most of the time Destiny required players to put in a large amount of time in order to see and do everything within the game, which is a luxury that not all gamers have. Destiny 2 however will allow players to use an “easy button”, which will tell them what to do and where to go to do it for those that may not have an abundant amount of time to invest in exploration.

If I only have two hours to spend I know exactly what to do. In Destiny 1, if I said you only had two hours to spend you’d have to go to Reddit. In Destiny 2 you’re not going to go to Reddit, you’re going to press one button on the controller and the game’s going to tell you what to do.”

Easy Button

Not everybody is going to want their hands held throughout the game, gaining experience for your character’s skills, upgrades, and those legendary weapons. The “easy button” appears to be a toggable option, so those players looking for a challenge will not be affected by the inclusion of this mechanic within the game.

Bungie is definitely trying to improve Destiny 2 but are they going too far with the helping hands? Part of the fun of many games, including Destiny 2’s predecessor, is experiencing things for yourself. On occasion, following in somebody else’s footsteps was useful but the sense of accomplishment was lacking. Let us know what you think about Destiny 2 and the incorporation of an easy button in the comments section below.
