It looks like more fuel for the fire has been added for a possible Demon’s Souls remake for the PlayStation 4. Back in early 2018, developer Bluepoint Games – now renowned for its work on the excellent Shadow of the Colossus remaster – announced that the studio had taken on another large remake project, with speculation suggesting that it could be for FromSoftware’s Demon’s Souls. With Sony having funded the original project and Bluepoint having done a continuous amount of work for the PlayStation company, it seems an almost certainty that we’ll be seeing the return of the game that created the Souls-like game category. Now, a new report suggests that we may be seeing a return of Demon’s Souls sooner than expected.

Former IGN editor Colin Moriarty recently spoke on his Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast about a PlayStation remaster that he was surprised hadn’t been announced yet, with his wording suggesting that it was for a souls-like game. “There was one game in particular, a remaster coming out for PlayStation 4, that I thought they [Sony] were going to announce today [at State of Play], but they didn’t,” Moriarty said.  I don’t know what they are waiting for with that one. Let’s just say the soul still burns with that one.”

Immediately following his statement about the soul still burning, Moriarty let out a sly chuckle before moving on with the conversation. The only real alternative that this could be pointing to is something from the SoulCalibur series, which quite frankly would make no sense whatsoever given the nature of those games. As such, we will more than likely be seeing an announcement for either a remake or a remaster in the same vein as Shadow of the Colossus in the near future.
