In little more than three months Hideo Kojima’s newest game, Death Stranding, will finally release for the PlayStation 4. The game has attracted the attention of many thanks to its stance as Kojima’s first big project after leaving Konami and the Metal Gear franchise. Despite Kojima’s eschewing of common gaming trends like Battle Royale mode, Sony has granted this game the prime slot as THE PS4 exclusive of the end of 2019. However, many have wondered if the game might come to other consoles, even one in the future perhaps. Now, an official PlayStation Twitter account has hinted at a possible Death Stranding PS5 release.

As reported on SegmentNext, an official PlayStation tweet may have hinted at a Death Stranding PS5 release. The tweet came from the official Spain PlayStation Twitter account, which was made in response to a fan question under a post for Death Stranding. The Twitter user asked if Death Stranding would be a PS4 exclusive, to which the PS4 Spain account said “Hi, currently the only platform announced for the launch of Death Stranding is PS4.”

The tweet, which has since been deleted either due to revealing too much or incorrect information, is interesting in that it only specifies the launch of the game will only be on PS4. This would seem to imply that a release on another console would be possible after the initial launch, and given Sony’s extensive investment in the game, they would want to keep it on their platforms only, the next of which would be the PS5. This situation would be quite similar to how The Last of Us released towards the end of the PS3 life cycle, and saw a PS4 release a year after its launch. This would be a great way for PS5 owners that didn’t have a PS4 get a chance to experience what will likely be another magnificent Kojima piece with a lot of Heart, Man.
