Death Stranding Progress Much Faster Than Anticipated, Surprises Even Sony

Death Stranding To Unveil 80 Minutes Of Gameplay At TGS 2019

Death Stranding has been hot news since the initial reveal, and it continues leave fans in awe of the work so far even with teaser images and clips. Though games such as ones of this caliber take several years to complete, even the publisher is surprised by Kojima Productions work so far. Death Stranding progress continues much faster than anticipated, so much so that the improvements have surpassed Sony‘s expectations. According to an interview between Japanese social media outlet, Dengeki, and creator Hideo Kojima, Death Stranding has in fact “surpassed the experiment phase”.

Ever since December 2016 we had not published new information, and there ought to be many fans who were getting worried or even imagining many things, but please rest assured. Currently, we have surpassed the experiment phase, and by entering the next step, we’re feeling the response to the new gameplay.

In the schedule of the overall gaming industry, normally it would take about 3 to 5 years to develop a game with everything already prepared beforehand: organization, human resources, game system, engine, tools, etc. But we prepared them while producing the game in parallel. While doing that, we’re proceeding smoothly towards the schedule we have decided on. Everyone at our partner [company] SIE also said: ‘We’ve never seen [someone] making [a game] with a pace as fast as this.'”

Since The Game Awards in December, Kojima makes it clear that any other Death Stranding progress will remain securely wrapped within their headquarters. More information will be revealed as we head into 2018. Currently, the studio continues to fill in the space where skillful staff is needed, but it is “gradually getting completed”. Perhaps this is a call for those interested in working with a legend?

It is the hope from fans and Kojima himself that more information will be revealed this year. A release date has not been revealed, but it has been predicted for 2019 or later, exclusively for PlayStation 4. What do you think of the news on Death Stranding so far?
