Dead By Daylight Cross-Progession Won’t Include Consoles
Cross-play within Dead by Daylight isn’t anything new. In fact, the feature has been in place for players on PC for quite some time allowing those who play on Steam to connect with those on the Windows version of the title. Soon, however, the cross-play capabilities will merge with those of console players as well, though some features won’t be present like they will be on PC versions of the game.
A recent blog post has arrived for Dead by Daylight, revealing that the developers are almost ready to give players on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia cross-play capabilities as well as maintain friends lists’ that transcend their current platform of choice. Still, one major feature won’t be arriving with the upcoming update – allowing players to use one single account across multiple platforms.
The company is expecting to be able to bring cross-progression to PC players on Steam, Google Stadia, and the Nintendo Switch giving players the ability to share their account’s inventory, progression, and purchases across their various accounts. Sadly, however, other platforms are currently out of luck. The developer also explains that there is no guarantee that there will be cross-progression for these platforms in the future even though it is a wish that many fans have had across the various platforms that Dead By Daylight can be played on.
It’s a little disappointing that the developers can’t bring cross-progression to every platform, but getting the feature to work on at least a few of them is a start. Currently, Dead By Daylight is available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The title is set to arrive in September of this year for Google Stadia alongside the first new steps into the realm of cross-play capabilities with cross-progression.
