Cyberpunk 2077 Romance Options Will Be More Diverse Than The Witcher 3
Since the appearance of Cyberpunk 2077 at the big E3 Microsoft press conference, CD Projekt RED has been eager to reveal more and more tidbits of information about the game. While it will not include any multiplayer functionality at launch, it will have nifty features like multiple endings and automated self-driving ride share cars. One aspect of their games that CD Projekt RED has been known for is romance options. However, many criticized The Witcher 3 for not having options inclusive to those in the LGBT community. It seems that this is going to change with the Cyberpunk 2077 romance options, according to new some new info from CD Projekt RED.
Reddit user magired1234 recently shared a screenshot of what presumably is a real Twitter direct message thread that they had with Cyberpunk 2077 lead quest designer Pawel Sasko. According to Sasko, the romantic relationship system will work similarly to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s system, in that if the player treats certain characters with enough positive behavior and affection, the emotional response will be returned.
Where this game will differ from The Witcher 3 is that the player will be able to have romantic relationships outside of heterosexual ones. These were limited based on Geralt’s character traits, but with Cyberpunk’s player character allowing for more player agency in big choices related to the story, more flexibility will be made for the player’s sexual preferences. It also sounds like the mechanics will allow for more long-term romantic partners, one-night stands, and potentially even multiple simultaneous relationships. CD Projekt RED certainly seems to be pulling out all of the stops for Cyberpunk 2077, and it is nice to see that they are making an effort to allow for greater sexual diversity in their game. Now, if they can just confirm if Keanu Reeves’s character is one such option. Those romance scenes would be breathtaking.
