Cyberpunk 2077 Trailer Receives Ciri Voiceover (VIDEO)
In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Ciri tells Geralt about traveling to a futuristic world with flying ships. He doesn’t believe her, but CD Projekt Red fans soon knew what world she was talking about: Night City of Cyberpunk 2077. Now, players can witness the city as Ciri saw it in a fan-edited trailer.
Recently, YouTube user Tolkfan mixed the game’s E3 trailer with Ciri’s tale from Wild Hunt. Throwing in some music from the Dr. Strange trailer adds to the atmosphere of the “new” trailer. Geralt remains gruff and to the point, as always.
(NOTE: There are some minor spoilers in the video, but Wild Hunt dropped three years ago. If you haven’t gotten to it yet, you probably never will.)
Knowing CD Projekt Red, it seems likely that we will receive a Ciri easter egg in Cyberpunk 2077, if not more. Perhaps she left behind a sword somewhere in case of emergencies, or maybe she has become a legend following one of her losses of control. At E3, the developer provided information on the multitude of NPCs populating the world. Could one of them be the Princess of Cintra, hiding out from Erodin and his Wild Hunt? It’s doubtful she would be present enough to be a romance option, though those will be plentiful.
Fans of The Witcher would rejoice at even a small glimpse of Ciri in the futuristic world. Wild Hunt was one of the best games of the modern era, and possibly my favorite ever. CD Projekt Red crafted a world with painstaking detail and dynamic characters, some heroic, some evil. What we’ve seen of Cyberpunk 2077 indicates an even deeper dive into morality and conflict, struggle and loss. One of the most captivating was Ciri, a swirl of anger, hope, and selflessness. More Ciri is always a positive, and she could influence our Cyberpunk 2077 characters in meaningful ways. Here’s to hoping for a full Ciri side quest rather than a brief cameo or mention.
What say you, gamers? How much Ciri do you think we’ll see in Cyberpunk 2077? Any chance we will spot the Wild Hunt attempting to pursue her there? Leave your predictions in the comments below! And don’t forget to follow DFTG on Twitter for all things gaming!
