Critical Role Unveils Taliesin Jaffe’s Amazing New Character
Fans of the popular D&D show Critical Role were crushed when Taliesin Jaffe’s character, a Tiefling Blood Hunter named Mollymauk, was killed in a brutal fight. With no way to revive the character, the group was forced to leave him behind and travel onwards. Though disheartening, the death of Mollymauk provided an opportunity to create a new character, one that could fill in the gaps left by the previous Cleric being captured by slavers.
This week’s episode of Critical Role revealed Jaffe’s new character, a Firbolg Cleric of the Grave Domain known as Caduceus Clay. While not quite as flamboyant as Mollymauk, the new Firbolg character does retain a few traits from the former member. Not only does the “Grave Domain” Cleric line up with Jaffe’s personality, but Caduceus also has bright pink mohawk which Jaffe sports from time to time.

Firbolgs as a race are often seen as caretakers of nature, able to turn invisible and known for their ability to communicate with plants and animals. Caduceus Clay was introduced into the campaign as a guardian of the Bone Orchard which is an ancient grave site within the middle of a corrupted forest. Clay’s family had been protecting the site for generations, however some of them were sent out to discover the source of the corruption and cleanse it. Grave Domain Clerics such as Clay have a whole host of spells that can buff allies, cancel out critical hits, curse enemies, and of course, heal or bring allies back to life.
Caduceus Clay looks to be a great addition to the Mighty Nein. Fans can catch Critical Role on Twitch every Thursday or, alternatively if you miss the stream, the episode will be available on YouTube a few days later.
