Crash Bandicoot is back on top of the gaming scene thanks to the release of the remastered N-Sane Trilogy, and as one would expect, the orange marsupial has been the subject of several popular memes. One of the more recent ones circling the web is a bizarre animation of Crash repeatedly shrieking the word “woah,” a common phrase said in the game when losing a life. As they tend to do, the “Woah” meme has now spread to the modding community, where the short animation has been implemented into a horrifying Crash Bandicoot Doom mod.

The mod began when a modder by the name of “Nitroactive” decided to replace Doom‘s plentiful hellbeasts with a still image of Crash, but another mod enthusiast “Jaxxoon R” took it a step further by adding the nightmarish meme animation we know today. The annoyingly horrible mod, which you can check out below, features the maddening result of dozens of shrieking Crash Bandicoots firing green cyberdemon fireballs in every direction.

In the above video by YouTuber ICARUSLIV3S, a second mod is also showcased, replacing the chainsaw weapon with a rapidly spiraling fidget spinner. The trendy murder device seemed super effective against the onslaught of bandicoots, Doomguy only being bested by ranged attacks later on in the footage. In the end, the dank memes proved victorious.

While the idea of a Crash Bandicoot Doom mod may seem obnoxious on paper, some appreciation can be gained from knowing mods are still being made for a game over 20 years old, an impressive feat in this day and age. Still, there’s a ridiculous charm to these types of mods and they provide a good laugh or two while the meme is still relevant. Plus, it gives us a reason to play some old-school Doom and that’s never a bad idea.

What do you think? Does a Crash Bandicoot Doom mod seem like a pure waste of time, or does the complete absurdity make up for the mod’s bizarreness?
