Code Vein: Hellfire Knight DLC Adds New Blood Codes, Outfits, And More

Despite a less than stellar launch last year, anime Souls-like Code Vein is still going strong, with developer Bandai Namco announcing this past November that three separate DLC packs are arriving during the first half of 2020. Strangely enough, no other details about any of the DLC packs were released since then, though Bandai Namco has revealed that the first of the three new sets of content is now available.

Called Hellfire Knight, the first episodic DLC for Code Vein is now available on all platforms. Hellfire Knight offers a slew of new content within the added areas of the game, including new weapons, Blood Codes, and Blood Veils. On the cosmetic side of things, the Hellfire Knight DLC brings with it some interesting alternative costumes for companions Io and Louis. Both NPC companions have an unlockable alternate version of their costumes, each of which comes in 3 different color schemes. Players can acquire these costumes by completing conditions of the “Horror Hunting Trials.”

As this is of course anime Dark Souls, Bandai Namco has injected more cosmetics into Code Vein in the form of face painting items that take after the Blood Codes of both Louis and Io. While there has yet to be any new information on the next two upcoming DLC packs, chances are we’ll get similar batches of outfits and cosmetic items for two or three existing companion characters with the release of each DLC.

Code Vein is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. My full review of the game can be read right here.
