Chris Redfield is Back in Resident Evil 7’s Not a Hero Gameplay Trailer (VIDEO)
Though the gameplay was a bit of a departure from earlier entries into the series, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was a massive success that reminded fans that Capcom’s survival horror franchise is at the top of its game. That said, the fans know what they want, and Capcom is looking to deliver with the title’s upcoming DLC, called Not a Hero. Available later this year, Not a Hero puts players back into the shoes of veteran series protagonist Chris Redfield, and he is packing some serious heat. Check out the gameplay trailer below to get a glimpse of what’s coming:
As can be gleaned from the trailer, Chris Redfield is infinitely more well-equipped than core game protagonist Ethan Winters was when he arrived at the Baker plantation. Arriving on the scene in full body armor, Redfield comes equipped with a fully integrated HUD and lots of weapons that make the molded enemies go “boom”. Easily the biggest stars of the trailer are – hear me out here – Redfield’s muscular arms, which he uses to finish off staggered enemies with well-placed punches. He can also use his arms to parry enemy attacks, because while Chris Redfield may not be a hero, he’s definitely an action star.
The Not a Hero DLC also represents a significant shift in focus from the core game. While jump scares may still occur, Redfield’s capabilities as a soldier bleed through into the overall vibe of the DLC, especially given the ease in which he dispatches his foes. Accompanied by a friendly voice on coms and what appears to be a very satisfying arsenal, the DLC certainly has a more action-y feel than it does survival horror. The upcoming DLC will come at no additional cost to the core game. Resident Evil 7 is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Not a Hero will be available on all platforms on December 12, 2017.
