Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Runs 4K 120Hz On Next-Gen Consoles
The past few weeks have been especially exciting for fands of Call of Duty. From extended bouts of easter eggs and ARGs, to the gradual reveal of the game’s first teaser, hype has certainly been building for the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The annual Gamescom event has only grown the game’s profile with all sorts of new information arriving in time for the proceedings. Developer Treyarch Studios has now confirmed the game will take advantage of the advanced technology present with next-generation consoles, including support for ultra-high-quality displays.
As per Venture Beat, Black Ops Cold War was revealed to be quite the spectacle on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, touting the ability to take full advantage of 4K resolution and refresh rates as high as 120hz. In addition, the upcoming shooter was said to utilize the abilities of Sony’s haptic feedback controller as well as the benefits of solid-state storage for both the PlayStation 5 as well as the Xbox Series X. “We want to make sure that the framerate is responsive, and that it feels like there’s nothing on the technical side preventing you from having a good time,” Treyarch studio co-head Dan Bunting explained.
Based on the footage shown off so far, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War appears to be a true spectacle and the availability of such upgrades to the presentation may give a true edge to the next-gen versions of the game. With both consoles due by the end of the year (Xbox Series X in November), there’s sure to be no shortage of titles aiming to take advantage of the impressive hardware ahead of them. A few games have already detailed several unique features coming to both consoles such as ray tracing, minimal loading screens, and advanced quality capabilities for both new releases as well as backward compatible titles.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War releases on November 13th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with versions also arriving on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
