Call Of Duty 2023 Will Be Next-Gen And PC Only, Says Leaker

Call of Duty 2023

The gaming industry has been highly focused on Activision Blizzard lately, due to the proposed acquisition of the company by Microsoft. Because of this potential major deal, many have wondered what impact it might have on Activision Blizzard’s games, particularly what platforms the games will be on. As for their biggest series, Call of Duty, Activision has confirmed at least three more COD titles will come to PlayStation consoles, honoring contracts made before the Microsoft deal. Now, one industry leaker has suggested the title known as Call of Duty 2023 will only come to PC, the PS5, and Xbox Series X.

Industry insider Tom Henderson recently shared an update on his Twitter account relating to Bloomberg’s recent Call of Duty report, the same report that confirmed three more COD games would come to PlayStation consoles. However, in light of this revelation, Henderson has new intel to report. As someone is known to share leaked Call of Duty information, Henderson suggests Call of Duty 2023 will only release on PC and current-gen consoles. This would specifically mean the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. He also believes that the proposed sequel to Warzone would also be current-gen exclusive.

It should be noted that most franchises, particularly the Call of Duty series, would often only support last-gen consoles for a year or two before moving on to next-gen consoles. The obvious difference this time around though, is the scarcity of current-gen consoles due to supply chain issues caused by the pandemic. Henderson noted that Sony and Microsoft have produced between 20 and 25 million current-gen consoles so far, possibly cementing their feeling of security in going exclusive to current-gen. However, with these being unique circumstances, that all could change. Time will tell, but hopefully, these supply chain issues end soon so current-gen plans for Call of Duty 2023 and Warzone 2 don’t have to keep players in the gulag.
