Bloodstained: Curse Of The Moon 2 Revealed (VIDEO)
With crowd funding becoming more available in the gaming industry to creators, several big name creatives in the gaming industry have been able to see their new projects thrive without the need of a major publisher. One such success story has been Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained series, which pays homage to his original creation Castlevania after his separation from IP owner Konami. While Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night showed a modern take on Iga’s platforming style, the Curse of the Moon prequel of the franchise hearkened back to the 8-bit inspirations for the series. Now, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 has been announced to keep this retro throwback ride going.
Inti Creates released the new Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 announcement trailer on their official YouTube channel earlier this week as a part of the New Game Plus Expo digital event. The video begins with series creator IGA reminding fans that the first Curse of the Moon was made possible thanks to stretch goals that fans helped to meet during the Ritual of the Night Kickstarter campaign. Due to its success and easier development, a sequel to Curse of the Moon has been greenlit. The sequel takes place after the first Curse of the Moon game, with player protagonist Zangetsu returning. Joining him are three new playable characters: the spear-wielding Dominique, gun-slinger Robert and Hachi the corgi that pilots a steam-engine robot.
The new game promises to continue the spinoff’s tradition of replicating the classic 8-bit gameplay of the original Castlevania games, but with new twists and features, including the Casual and Veteran modes available in the first game. Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 will be coming to Steam, Xbox One, PS4 and the Nintendo Switch some time soon. Retro fans seemed delighted by the first game, and hopefully this sequel satiates their thirst for Bloodstained until a continuation of the core story arises.
