Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire Event Will Debut New Gameplay

Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire

With Cyberpunk 2077 recently seeing yet another delay, fans are undoubtedly itching to get a new look at the futuristic RPG from CD Projekt RED. While the reveal of a steller comic book tie-in will present plenty to absorb in the meantime, fans also have the likes of an upcoming reveal livestream affectionately dubbed the Night City Wire event. Due to debut fresh footage for the upcoming title, the proceedings were delayed to make way for ongoing protests against racism and police brutality. However, the presentation now appears to be taking place on June 25th – tomorrow, as of writing.

Ahead of Night City Wire, CD Project RED now has laid out a rough blueprint regarding what the event will hold, doing so in a new post on social media. The livestream is now confirmed to take place at 6 p.m. CEST (9 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. CT / 12 a.m. ET), revealing “a brand new trailer” in addition to “fresh gameplay footage” as well as details about how “braindance” will work in the game. The whole presentation is said to last about 25 minutes.

Though braindance is a slated highlight of the Cyberpunk 2077 event, it won’t be the first time developers have detailed the feature. According to a 2018 breakdown from CDPR, the rise of “luxury and showbusiness” in Night City will present players with the opportunity to live out a range of artificial scenarios through a technology known as braindance. “It enhances consumed mass media and, in many cases, leads to braindance addiction as people crave the life of luxury,” the studio explained. “Actors are hired specifically to perform these superficial memories, and celebrities are completely stripped of privacy as everyone can ‘become’ them with the use of braindance. The demand for extremes also opens up an entirely new range of products you can find on the Night City black market.”

In preparation for the event, CD Projekt RED has given fans access to a free goodies collection filled with several GB of lovely artwork and screenshots, likely sending fan hype skyward ahead of the proceedings. Following Night City Wire, only a few months will remain until Cyberpunk 2077 releases, though, it appears that CDPR could still have a few more reveal events planned before that date arrives. The developer teased as much in an online exchange, responding playfully when a fan asked about the possibility on social media.

Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to release November 19th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with versions for next-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X also set to release in Holiday 2020.
