Bloodborne Board Game Launches Kickstarter Campaign This Month
Tabletop is coming back with a vengeance! Despite the popularity of the Dark Souls series from developer FromSoftware, the studio had another tactical game in the same gameplay style. Titled Bloodborne, it was a hit on its own as well. Based on the success of the board game with Steamforged, it looks like FromSoftware is pairing up with CMON Games this time around for a Bloodborne tabletop experience!
#BloodborneTheBoardGame, designed by Eric M. Lang and Michael Shinall, is coming to #Kickstarter April 23 at 3pm EST! Fight as a Hunter to vanquish the rotting plague that is terrorizing the city of #Yharnam.

Designed by Eric M. Lang and Michael Shinall, the team is excited to announce the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for the Bloodborne board game. Transcribing their creative process online, Lang and Shinall have published a series of development diary entries for those curious on their design process. From the figurines, cards, player statistics, and customization – the studio was determined to interpret the fast-paced experience of Bloodborne to tabletop.
Here’s a little tidbit from one of their diary entries:
When you start a Campaign, each Hunter will begin with the same generic deck of Stat Cards: Twelve cards spread across four stats: Strength, Vitality, Skill, and Endurance- stats taken directly from the video game. There are a couple others that players could technically build (Arcane, Bloodtinge) but they function more as secondary stats than anything else (listen, Bowblade fanatics, I’m sorry, but can’t fit everything!)
Vitality is a Hunter’s ability to mitigate damage/their overall health. Strength is raw damage. Skill manipulates how quickly you can attack (and some other various damaging effects). Endurance reflects how many raw actions you can perform before needing to recover. That’s a very simplified rundown of the Stats, but should give you the general idea of each of them.”
Beginning April 23rd at 3 PM (PST), Bloodborne: The Board Game will officially launch their Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. There will be stacks of tiers to choose from, and you can even get your own unit before it hits retail sales. What are your thoughts on the resurgence of tabletop experiences?
