New Blizzard PvP Shooter Hinted At In Recent Job Posting

Blizzard PvP Shooter

Blizzard has certainly made their mark over the years, but most recently, their success has really flourished in the shooter department. With Overwatch blasting off into the stratosphere with popularity, it would seem that the company knows how to get the job done. Speaking of jobs, a new listing to recently pop up on their website hints at a new Blizzard PvP shooter, and we’re already excited.

The job is for a Senior/Principal Game Designer on an “Unannounced Project.” Blizzard is looking for someone “with experience in developing weapons, abilities, and gameplay systems in action or first-person shooter games.” The responsibilities and requirements for such a position are as follows:

Responsibilities

  • Work with team leadership to design units, weapons, and abilities
  • Implement units, weapons, and abilities using a proprietary design tool
  • Work with team leadership to set direction for game modes, level design, and game systems
  • Grow and mentor other designers
  • Work closely with the art, level design, and engineering teams to ensure the highest quality player experience
  • Act as a player advocate to ensure the highest level of usability, playability, and visual excitement

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of experience in the video game industry
  • Designed, developed, and shipped major game systems in a AAA game
  • Able to develop and champion a strong design vision for abilities and weapons, from concept to completion
  • Technical experience building gameplay experiences using game tools
  • Outstanding self-motivation and initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work creatively in a demanding team environment
  • Absolute passion for playing and creating PvP game experiences

We all know how successful Overwatch has been since its 2016 release, so we can only imagine what a new Blizzard PvP shooter would bring to the table. An Overwatch sequel seems like a bit of a stretch, but maybe they’re taking Jeff Kaplan up on his suggestion that adding a battle royale mode to the title would be entering “new game territory.”

Either way, exciting times surely lie ahead for gamers everywhere. If the position piques your interest, you can apply right here. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming news going on right now, check out the following:
