BioWare’s Anthem Added To EA Access

Anthem

BioWare’s Anthem has had a rough road since its launch. Originally touted for its innovative flight mechanics and impressive visuals, the title has continuously gone under fire for its distinct lack of content and the developer’s seeming unwillingness to communicate consistently with its player base. That said, many of these gnawing issues have been at least partially addressed with Anthem’s Cataclysm event, which debuted last month to the overall enjoyment of its players. Now, it looks like EA is trying to push more people into trying the game out by adding it to its EA Access subscription service.

EA announced today that Anthem has been added to EA Access. Not unlike the Xbox Game Pass, EA Access provides, well, access to numerous titles within EA’s library, while also providing an earlier play period for upcoming releases and occasional discounts on digital content. The standard version of EA Access is currently available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for $4.99 per month, and the $14.99 PC only version gives players access to the Legion of Dawn Edition of Anthem.

While many may consider the move to be a tragic one for BioWare’s Anthem as we know it, this could actually be a good thing. If more people test out the game and find that they’re enjoying it, that will provide EA and BioWare with all the more reason to keep dedicating resources to the title. Anthem admittedly still has a long road ahead of it if it wants to continue to thrive as a live service game, though at least there’ll be a less daunting entry point for those that have yet to test out the game.

Anthem is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
