Back 4 Blood Delayed, Open Beta Still Planned For This Summer
Left 4 Dead 3 hopefuls are going to have to wait a bit longer for the franchise’s spiritual successor, Back 4 Blood. It’s been announced that the Turtle Rock Studios title has officially been delayed, though the game’s first Open Beta period is currently still on track for this summer. Originally scheduled to release on June 18, the delay pushes the date back to October 12, 2021.
Back 4 Blood developer Turtle Rock Studios took to Twitter today to share the unfortunate news, citing that the team simply “needs more time” in order to ensure that the game they release is the “best game it can possibly be at launch.” The message continues on to thank the community for its continued support, while confirming once more that the Open Beta is still on for this summer.

News that Back 4 Blood has been delayed is unfortunate, though it certainly isn’t an unexpected development given the events of the past year. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the delay and even cancellation of many video games and industry-specific events, so hearing that Back 4 Blood has only been delayed by a few short months is something of a miracle. Things could be worse, it could have been delayed indefinitely.
Back 4 Blood is now slated to release on October 12, 2021, for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
