Ubisoft Unveils Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Spartan Collector Edition

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Ubisoft released the details for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Spartan Collector Edition, which is now available to preorder. Fans who hopped on the hype train following the big E3 reveal can load up on physical content to show their appreciation.

A 15-inch figure of a midair Alexios serves as the focal point for this package. The Spartan Leap Statue depicts the protagonist bearing a pair of spears, prepared to skewer an unseen target. Players do not have the option for a Kassandra figure, the female option for the game itself. However, a Kassandra figure is available for purchase separately for interested parties.

The Spartan Collector Edition also includes access to the Season Pass and two missions, Secrets of Greece and The Blind King. No details have been released thus far, but the Greek setting indicates the Blind King may center around Oedipus Rex. Assassin’s Creed’s_ unique take on myth and history seem to fit with this possibility. Oedipus was the mythical king of Thebes, a city-state which allied with Sparta in the Peloponnesian War. As the game will focus around this conflict, interaction with Thebes seems inevitable, and an easy-tie in to Oedipus makes perfect sense.

Players who purchase the Spartan Collector Edition will also receive several in-game bonuses. The Kronos and Herald of Dusk Gear Packs will keep your Assassin one step ahead of your enemies, as will the Capricornus Naval Pack. XP and Drachma boosts will help you purchase even more superior gear and upgrade your skills faster, allowing you be the best Spartan you can be.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey marks the second major E3 title to receive a SteelBook case, the first being Kingdom Hearts 3. The cover features a gloriously rendered Spartan helmet on a black background. SteelBook seems to be creating a monopoly over special edition game cases. Their attention to detail indicates that may be a good thing. The Spartan Collector Edition also includes a map of the game world, the official soundtrack, a lithograph, and an art book.

Ubisoft briefly offered a Pantheon Collector Edition, which also included an enemy figure preparing to battle Alexios. However, it sold out almost immediately despite a $219.99 price tag. If players want the Spartan Collector Edition, they probably need to act quickly.

Preordering the Gold, Ultimate, or Spartan earns players early access on October 2, three days before the official launch. The Gold Edition includes access to the Season Pass and the Secrets of Greece mission, while the Ultimate Edition adds on the gear packs and boosts. If you covet physical swag, the Spartan Collector Edition is the only choice.

Players can preorder the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Spartan Collector Edition for PC, PS4, and XBox One for $159.99 now.
