Ark: Extinction Launch Trailer Has Some Major Geth Vibes (VIDEO)

Believe it or not, Ark: Survival Evolved does in fact have a story albeit one that’s obscure and told as interpreted by players. That story is set to conclude with the release of the latest expansion for the game called “Extinction” and takes players back to where the story began: Earth.

Studio Wildcard has dropped a new launch trailer showing off the various new features such as a new “Orbital Supply Drop”  that sees players fending off waves of enemies to gain loot. The enemies that survivors will face in this new feature are known as “Corrupted” and they variants of existing dinos that become unable to be tamed do to being corrupted by “Element,” causing them to become highly aggressive regardless of normal temperaments.

Like the Titanosaur released in a previous expansion, Extinction also adds a monstrous new type few creatures called Titans that make even the massive Tyrannosaurus Rex look tiny in comparison. Thankfully, Studio Wildcard has added a new way to deal with the fresh threat. “Meks” are  gigantic mech suits that players can find and control, utilising a variety of weaponry from a sword, auto rifle type weapon, and even a giant cannon. Now it might be because of N7 day or maybe just the eyes playing tricks, but the Mek do look incredibly familiar. They seem to share a similar appearance to that of Mass Effect’s Geth, like an oversized Geth Juggernaut perhaps?

Ark: Survival Evolved is available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The latest expansion for that game is also currently available for PC, though Xbox One and PlayStation 4’s release has been delayed back to November 13th.
