‘Aquaman’ Film Gets an Official Release Date
The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) continues to bring the icons of comic book literature to life on the big screen. One of those icons being the King of Atlantis, also known as Aquaman. Warner Bros. Entertainment has finally slated a release date for the upcoming film.
Earlier this year we witnessed Jason Mamoa’s short, but rewarding cameo as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Next year, we will see Aquaman return for the DC Comics team up movie, Justice League. So when will Arthur Curry/Aquaman get a solo feature? Mark your calendars because October 5, 2018 Aquaman swims into theaters.
The film is being directed by Saw and The Conjuring director, James Wan. Jason Mamoa will return as the aquatic super hero along side Amber Heard, who will play Arthur’s queen, Mera. Willem Dafoe has also been cast in the movie as Atlantis’ Chief Scientific Advisor, Nuidis Vulko. No plot has been revealed as of yet.
Originally, Warner Bros. had two untitled DC films set for 2018. One for July 27 and one for October 5. That calendar now shows that Aquaman has filled the October slot. That open spot may be for the Ben Affleck written and directed film, The Batman, but nothing has been confirmed to support that.
We may have to wait almost two years to see the solo Aquaman movie, but as stated above, the King of Atlantis will be in Justice League on November 17, 2017. If we’re lucky, we might even see him in the next DCEU film, Wonder Woman. If you haven’t already, check out the trailer for next year’s Justice League:
