Apex Legends Is Getting New Maps, New Characters

Apex Legends has hit the battle royale genre in a big way, racking up over 25 million players after only being available for one week. By now, most of the players that have been enjoying the fruits of Respawn Entertainment’s labors have a firm grip on the game’s mechanics and available character classes. As such, many have begun to wonder what content is on the horizon to help keep the title fresh.

Recently, Respawn’s Vincent Zampella sat down with the folks over at VentureBeat to discuss the phenomenon that is Apex Legends, and the direction it’s headed in. When asked if there would be post-launch content, Zampelle responded “Oh yeah, absolutely. This is just the start of our journey.”

There will be new maps, new modes, new characters, new weapons, new skins. There will be a ton of stuff coming over the next year to 10, maybe. It depends on how successful it is.”

The ‘when’ behind this remains to be seen, of course, though there have already been instances where players have discovered assets for an unreleased skin while playing the game, so at the very least we know Respawn is working on it. Much of the upcoming cosmetic content will likely be tied to the game’s Battle Pass, though the current details are sparse and exist almost solely in the FAQ section of the official Apex Legends website. Thankfully, as the game’s popularity continues to grow, we should see more and more content surface from Respawn as they continue to cater to player feedback.

Apex Legends is now available free-to-play for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
