Apex Legends Mobile Release Coming Later This Year (VIDEO)

Following Epic Games’ suit with Fortnite, EA will have a mobile release for their battle royale title. During the EA Play Live presentation on June 18th, Apex Legends had new information to share with the community. They forgot to mention, however, their plans to bring the experience to mobile devices.

Among the plethora of other announcements and reveals from publishers and developers during EA Play Live, Respawn Entertainment and company revealed cross-play capabilities and a Nintendo Switch release for Fall 2020. It’s unclear why plans for the mobile release weren’t divulged at that time, but EA CEO Andrew Wilson announced their intent during a “fireside chat” instead. Check it out below:

According to Wilson, Apex Legends will have a “soft launch” on mobile platforms by the end of 2020. While there’s no denying the rise in popularity of mobile gaming, there comes certain technological limitations on breadth of content and capabilities. It’s also unclear whether Apex Legends mobile will have a range of DLC like its PC and console counterparts, or if it’ll feature cross play. Based on the fact that EA did not take the advantageous route of announcing this information during EA Play Live, it’s likely still under heavy development in anticipation of a Fall debut.
