A Plague Tale Sequel Is Reportedly In Development
A Plague Tale: Innocence launched earlier this year and provided fans with a compelling tale of fictional representation of the Black Plague epidemic that swept through Western Europe and Cairo. It turned out to be an intriguing game full of stealth action and survival puzzles amidst a horrifying backdrop of an extremely dark time in human history. The title saw a great deal of success after its launch and for good reason, and now it seems that there may be a sequel to the title in the works from Asobo Studios and Focus Home Interactive.
A report was recently released claiming that Focus Home Interactive has already ordered the creation of a sequel to A Plague Tale and that the title will likely see an official announcement sometime in 2020 with a full launch arriving in 2022. This would indicate that the title could be arriving with next-gen consoles in mind, though the developer has neither confirmed or denied the existence of a sequel at this time.
The publisher did, however, respond to some inquiries into the matter by stating that they are quite proud of A Plague Tale’s success and want to be able to give the franchise the attention it deserves. The publisher announced a partnership with Asobo Studios last year for an upcoming project but they don’t feel comfortable revealing just what it is at this time, but assured fans that they would let them know what they have planned when the time was right. It’s possible it could be A Plague Tale 2 but for now, it seems we’ll only be able to hope and wait until an official announcement is made in the future.
Focus Home Interactive and Asobo are very proud of the critical and public reception of A Plague Tale: Innocence, and the sales. We’re delighted to have received a solid number of awards and nominations, including for Best Narrative at the Game Awards next week. We want to pursue our efforts to make sure the game gets even more attention from players and we will thus keep promoting that title as it deserves.
Of course, we announced last year we are partnering with Asobo for a future project but never confirmed if it was a sequel to A Plague Tale or not – and will give more details on that title when the right time comes.”
A Plague Tale: Innocence is currently available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Let us know your thoughts on seeing a Plague Tale sequel and more in the comments section below.
