The first Pokémon: Detective Pikachu trailer generated a mixed reaction from viewers. While fans of the franchise generally supported Ryan Reynolds portrayal of the title character, they argued over the other creatures. Mr. Mime was (accurately) dubbed terrifying, and a full-blown internet feud blossomed over Jigglypuff’s appearance. Nonetheless, the trailer generated plenty of buzz as the movie should continue to line the franchise’s already record-setting coffers. And now a new trailer should build further excitement.

The new trailer only debuts a smidgen of new footage, but it shows off a few notable bits. First, we have a closer look at Snubbull, a Fairy-type Pokémon modeled after a bulldog. The Pokémon sits next to Detective Yoshida (Ken Watanabe), who appears put off and possibly afraid of the creature.

We also see Mr. Mime dancing. He remains as terrifying as he was in the previous trailer, and we should speak no more of him. He is seriously a nightmare come to life.

Lastly, the end of the trailer shows Pikachu making a fart joke. That’s a bit out of character for the electric rodent, but this is clearly going to be a different take on Pikachu. It’s also not out of character for Ryan Reynolds, so expect quite a bit more of this humor when the movie comes out.

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu debuts May 10, 2019. If you can’t wait for May, Detective Pikachu will appear as a DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Looking to the future, it appears that a spinoff sequel is already in development. That bodes well for the movie’s success.
