No Man’s Sky, while initially disappointing many of its players with promised features absent during its launch, has found a resurgence of passion among its user base this year. Thanks to the release of No Man’s Sky NEXT, new features have been added to make players engage even deeper with the game’s numerous worlds. Given the sheer number and random nature of the game’s planets, it would seem improbable to turn one into a homage to a famous landscape, but one fan has done just that in a timely fashion for Halloween. The Nightmare Before Christmas’ Spiral Hill scene has now been remade in No Man’s Sky.

Reddit user reefguy007 recently uploaded pictures of their custom landscape on their official Reddit page. It seems that this all started little over a week ago when they found that one particular planet contained plants with almost humanoid shapes, and pumpkin-like tops where the head would be. Some comments back then even referenced the classic holiday crossover stop-motion animated classic film, The Nightmare Before Christmas. With a huge cluster of these pumpkin plants around, reefguy007 set out to recreate the infamous Spiral Hill.

Luckily, the planet was close enough to a ringed planet in the same solar system to act in place of the moon. With the help of a friend, reefguy007 used terraforming techniques to bring the Spiral Hill to life on the planet. He then found the perfect way to position the hill near many pumpkin plants in front of the Saturn-like planet to recreate the Spiral Hill scene, complete with an avatar that looks as close to Jack Skellington as possible. The resemblance is quite nifty to see, and we can only hope that there is a planet for all of the other holidays out there waiting for explorers to ask, “What’s This?”
