When it comes to sequels of any kind, it’s difficult to create an experience that will satisfy everyone. Some find them more fascinating, while others are in a never-ending loop of comparing the latest entry to a series to the original. It’s been the unfortunate loop for Bungie’s Destiny series. Despite the initial mixed reception of Destiny 2, following the rave reviews of the first, Bungie’s ongoing support for the second title still remains strong. Now rumor has it that Destiny 3 is currently in development.

Based on a distinguished leaker of the Destiny community who goes by the alias AnonTheNine, Bungie is currently working on Destiny 3 and will be a “more hardcore” experience than its predecessor. Responding to inquiries and threads all over Reddit, AnonTheNine revealed several details on the rumored to-be sequel including Luke Smith’s return, and Chris Barrett to join as game director.

There’s more to it than that, of course. AnonTheNine revealed an imgur post on Reddit not long after of Europa, the smallest of four Galilean moons of Jupiter captioned with, “Can’t wait.” Based on the thread alone, the exploration of Europa will take place in Destiny 3. That is IF the rumors of its current development progress are true.

As for their intentions with rumored sequel, the leaker suggests that D3 will be “more hardcore-y than Forsaken“. The development team will also focus on the RPG aspects of the game as well. “D2 vanilla was their idea from beginning. The ‘reboot’ didnt change that, the game was born to be for casuals,” said AnonTheNine. “If D3 will really have the idea they want to implement, trust me, a lot of Guardians who play 2 hours per week will abandon the game. They are going balls out with the rpg stuff.”
