Altered Beast, Streets of Rage Adaptations Are On The Way
The executive producers of The Walking Dead are exploring live-action adaptations of the Sega arcade classics Streets of Rage and Altered Beast.
Circle of Confusion, the production company behind the highly popular television show The Walking Dead, are looking to bring a few video games into live action, namely Altered Beast and Streets of Rage. They are partnering with Stories International to develop the two Sega franchises with either a movie or television series in mind or each of them. The announcement was made via a Stories International press release:
“With Lawrence [Mattis] and his team at Circle of Confusion, we are beyond excited to work alongside them to develop and produce these projects,” said Stories International President / CEO Tomoya Suzuki. “We look forward to seeing the Centurion from ‘Altered Beast’ rise from his grave, and the ‘Streets of Rage’ heroes Adam, Axel and Blaze fight to take their city back on a screen near you.”
In 2014, Stories International had announced plans to adapt dozens of Sega properties for TV and film, including Altered Beast, Crazy Taxi, and Virtua Fighter. Bringing in Circle of Confusion and moving ahead with movies based on Rent A Hero and Shinobi, is the first amount of real momentum these potential projects have attained.
