Elder Scrolls Online Homestead Update – What To Expect (VIDEO)

When you think of MMO titles, you usually think of traveling, marauding, and questing your way across vast landscapes in order to get yourself to the next portion of the game. Travel, kill dragons or bandits, craft, wash, rinse, repeat. But what if there’s a way to be able to create your own, personal home base, someplace you can travel to to let your character relax, and to show off your personal flair for the interior design? Enter Bethesda’s  the Elder Scrolls Online Homestead update, where you can do just that, because let’s face it, there’s no place like home.

Similar to the Hearthfire DLC, Homestead will allow players to choose from over 40 different home styles as you continue to build your home sweet home and expand your material wealth as the game progresses. For a quick overview, check out the video below:

As with any MMO, just as your character had humble beginnings and minimal supplies, so will your house. You’ll start off with a tiny room at a local inn, and gradually work your way up to more lavish housing. Homes are also instanced and protected from other gamers, so you won’t have to scramble to fight off ruffians from your ideal home location or defend your house from being looted by other gamers, which is a nice little perk.

Aside from these features, Bethesda also promises over 2000 furnishings for gamers to choose from, which means there’s never a need to worry about running out of creative ideas. Housing, tables, decorations, everything you can think of can be purchased with in-game gold or Crowns, and gradually as the game progresses, more advanced housing will require Crowns only if you wish to expand or build on them. Since the home designs will be individually based off of the 10 races of playable characters, there’s even a possibility of owning multiple homes if you choose (or if you can afford it).

Homestead was initially announced back at E3 2016, and we expect to find the update going live sometime in February. The Elder Scrolls Online Homestead update is available only for One Tamriel, so if you haven’t updated yet, make sure you do so to be able to utilize Homestead to its fullest potential. There’s never a dull moment when it comes to picking up a Bethesda title; before, gamers only had to spend hours designing and customizing their perfect character… why not do the same with their house?! Let those creative juices flow, and give us a shout out in the comments below what you think your perfect house will look like! Game on, my friends!
