Jade Empire Makes a Return on Android Devices
Back in 2005, BioWare was still riding high on the successes of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I and II. They had developed a winning formula for games that were somewhere in between turn based, and live action RPGs with deep stories, character interactions, and multiple branching endings (usually accompanied by a twist). In this transition phase between KOTOR and the Mass Effect – Dragon Age era, there came a game that went widely unnoticed for reasons unknown, and that game was Jade Empire.
Jade Empire abandoned the Star Wars universe for one handcrafted by the writers at BioWare. Steeped in the deep history and myth of ancient China, the game fully embraced a more live action style of combat that would be seen in later BioWare titles. The voice acting was impeccable, the characters were lovable and interesting, and the environments were sharper and more colorful than we’d ever seen before on a classic Xbox.
Why Jade Empire never experienced the success and sequel service of other BioWare games remains a mystery, but most attribute it to poor marketing. Commanding a cult following from those who really did love the game, a sequel has been requested and anticipated for over a decade. In the event that we never see a second Jade Empire there is a silver lining, in that Aspyr Media Inc. has created an official port of the game for Android devices!

Not only do you not have to go out and buy a legacy Xbox to play again, now you can get your kung fu training in on the go for the low price of $9.99! The controls have been re-imagined for touch screens, and if that wasn’t enough, the game also has native controller support.
Whether you were enchanted by the game from the first time you picked it up in 2005, or you’ve never had the good fortune to experience the exceptional story of Jade Empire, it is highly recommended that you check out this awesomely affordable port on your phone, tablet, or mobile gaming device.
