Ahead of the official reveal, Marvel vs. Capcom’s rendition of the popular villain Venom has been leaked ahead of schedule. In a very, very sneaky move – the first image popped up in a screenshot of the UI for the game that also showed off a few other key characters as well. There’s might be more to this than some realise however. Take a look at the post that started it all below:

Immediately upon seeing the images, busy sites such as Reddit and ResetERA have been drawn to the reveal with speculation of their own. This isn’t the Venom that many were expecting – in fact, many believe that it could be Anti-Venom instead.

We already know that Venom is a character that is set to join the roster at a later date, but this is the first time any sort of image has been shown. But is it really what what we thought? A Venom with an alt-skin, Anti-Venom – there are a ton of theories, each with at least one person calling the other speculator an idiot. Such is fandom. Regardless of what is in store and whether or not this can be seen as the first look, it’s safe to bet that he will be making his debut when the next wave of DLC rolls out.

Venom, Winter Soldier, and Black Widow can all be seen in the above roster picture, all three have yet to be added into the game. It’s exciting to see what else Marvel vs. Capcom will bring to the game, especially with the continuing rise of Marvel popularity in every day media.
