Creator and Game Designer Hideki Kamiya Teases Bayonetta 3

Bayonetta 3

Back in 2009, the hack and slash hit title Bayonetta was unleashed on the gaming world. The title quickly became popular among action gamers due to the fluid combat and beautiful visuals that were all wrapped in a dark plot with a cast of memorable characters. Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, and PC players all got to experience the iconic first entry into the franchise. Five years later. Bayonetta 2 dropped as a WiiU exclusive and many claim was the saving grace of Nintendo’s console. Fast forward three more years into the current generation of gaming, and fans are left wondering if Platinum Games will be giving us a Bayonetta 3 any time soon, or at all. Famed video game director, Hideki Kamiya may have just spilled the beans on an upcoming third installment.

One of the positive attributes to come from social media is that fans of actors, musical artists, and those in the video game industry have an accessible platform in which they can interact with those in the industries. Some, not all, of those that work in this industry have a prominent presence on social media sites and use it to interact with the community. One such instance involved Hideki Kamiya when a fan asked the director about some of the lore pertaining to the Bayonetta universe. Kamiya’s response has sent followers into speculation overload, as it teases the possibility of Bayonetta 3. You can see his Tweet below:

Kamiya’s response isn’t set-in-stone confirmation that the Bayonetta franchise will become a trilogy in the near future, but it definitely helps start the hype train. As mentioned above, the second game ended up as a WiiU exclusive. This was due to Nintendo taking the reins and becoming the game’s publisher. That may mean that if Bayonetta 3 is indeed on the horizon, there’s a possibility that the tertiary title may end up as a Switch exclusive. On the other hand, Sega could possibly regain the publishing rights, which could lead to a release across all current platforms.

As of now, there is no official Bayonetta 3 announcement, but stay tuned with DFTG for any updates that may surface. Which is your favorite Bayonetta title?
