Mass Effect 1 and 2 Lead Writer Confirms He’s Working on BioWare’s Anthem
It is usually a great thing when someone in the gaming industry goes on to create or work on something new. For example, look at Cliff Bleszinski. After throwing in the towel on Gears of War, he came out of retirement to open a new studio, Boss Key Productions, and create the highly-anticipated upcoming title LawBreakers. While Drew Karpyshyn isn’t jumping ship, he has moved to a project that could end up being huge: BioWare’s Anthem.
The Mass Effect 1 and 2 lead writer recently took to Twitter to confirm that he is in fact working on the upcoming shared-world action-RPG. Karpyshyn mentioned that he was working on a new project earlier this year, but did not divulge the details that fans craved. Many thought it could be a new Knights of the Old Republic title, but the recent confirmation from Drew proves that to be incorrect.
Yes. Yes I am. 🙂

After Twitter user Patricio Abusleme asked Drew if he was working on BioWare’s Anthem, Karpyshyn simply replied with “Yes. Yes I am.” See, all it took was somebody asking him. Then again, it was probably because the developer has kept their new IP shrouded in secrecy. After Andromeda‘s launch, and the mixed reviews that cam along with it, BioWare probably wasn’t ready to announce something quite yet. Luckily, E3 took place over the past week and that was the perfect opportunity to let fans in on the secret.
BioWare’s Anthem will allow players to “Wield an arsenal of Javelin exosuits, each equipped with unique weapons and abilities. Band together with friends, confront the dangers you find, and grow in power with every step.” It is being slated for a Fall 2018 release, which is a bit far off, but that just means the hype train will have plenty of time to garner the steam necessary to win fans over.
