PAX East Trailer for ‘Elite Dangerous’ Shows Ominous Encounter With Alien Race (VIDEO)
Aliens are well established within the Elite universe. Ancient ruins and unknown artifacts can be seen peppered throughout space, it’s an adventure that houses many mysteries. Unfortunately, they don’t provide players with much information, leaving said mysteries just that – a mystery. In fact, it wasn’t until earlier this year that the hunt for more information truly started for a majority of players. The question then becomes, are these aliens friendly? This new trailer from PAX East 2017 indicates they may not be:
If you’ll notice here, a large alien ship appears above some human pilots. The creepy alien sound you hear there is a scan, similar to players ability to scan objects in the game. At the very least that’s what it appears to be. Because the clip is short, nobody can definitively say for sure how the encounter will play out. If the ominous music is any indication though, the situation does not bode well for the humans. Players encountered a similar situation earlier this year. In January, players were pulled out of “Witchspace” which is the name for Hyperspace within Elite Dangerous. What manner of being could do such a thing?. Once in the history of Elite there was a war with an alien race known as the Thargoids. These aliens were able to pull off a “Hyperdiction”. The question then becomes, are they back?
An in-game event to scan relics ensued for one of the Engineers, Ram Tah. Players were told to explore ruins on multiple different planets to pursue this research. In turn, players gained information on a particular alien race called the Guardians. If this data interests you, it can be found here. As far as what the future holds, its hard to tell what players will discover next. Perhaps war will ensue, maybe players will get some alien booty *cough Mass Effect cough*, who knows for sure. At the end of the day, anything alien related is going to draw a lot of interest. It’ll be interesting to see how the Guardians/Thargoids situation plays out.
