Marvel Entertainment continues to grow as one of the biggest forces in the media and pop culture landscape, and that presence has been especially felt in the world of video games. Achieving much success with Sony’s exclusive Spider-Man games for the PlayStation, Square Enix has been granted the ability to develop and publish their own Marvel games as well. Though Marvel’s Avengers from the developer has been met with middling success so far, their new Guardians of the Galaxy video game unveiled at this summer’s E3 was a big highlight of the event. Now, a new Guardians of the Galaxy clip introduces a flirty Lady Hellbender to the crew.

Developer Eidos Montreal recently released the new Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy clip on its official YouTube channel. The cinematic video shows Peter Quill, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Drax brought before Lady Hellbender, a character Marvel comics readers might recognize as the regent of Seknarf Nine. The Guardians witness her release a small alien creature that can immensely grow in size and back to its original form at her will. After the demonstration, Lady Hellbender directs her attention towards Drax, whom she expresses a flirtatious desire. As Drax picks up on this, he seeks guidance from Peter, and by extension the player, who can either take the lead over the situation or direct Drax to vocally welcome her flirtation. Drax reciprocates, though, in a manner that would only impress Lady Hellbender.

Alongside the original, Eidos Montreal provided a second version of the Guardians of the Galaxy clip with commentary that provides context for the scene. In it, players the developers reveal players would have already decided whether to try to sell either Rocket or Groot to Lady Hellbender as a con, with the intent of rescuing their friend later on. This clip implies that Groot was in the crate in the scene the whole time and would need to be rescued later. It also points out how the dev team wanted to create scenes that play against expectations, as this scenario gives Drax the opportunity to use his charm instead of Quill. The game looks like it’ll preserve well the spirit of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and when it releases, it’ll certainly have us hooked on a feelin’.
