Animal Crossing has provided much needed solace to both experienced and casual gamers alike the past year, and even still, people are finding new ways to keep the game compelling enough to return to each day. One way that the game has been celebrated by its players has been the use of the game to recreate other media. The creative tools in the game have helped players recreate everything from scenes from The Office to classic Disney sequences. Now, this tradition has been continued, with one fan recreating a classic Nine Inch Nails music video in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

As reported by Game Informer, YouTube user Jenn Welch has shared their custom shot-for-shot re-creation of the classic Nine Inch Nails music video for their hit song Closer. Welch painstakingly found a way to represent the whole Closer video using only tools and items available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With K.K. Slider posing as NIN lead singer Trent Reznor, the less than kid-friendly lyrics from the dark 90s song are replaced with K.K.’s signature meep-speak singing.

Welch also released a side-by-side comparison video that shows her custom creation next to the original Nine Inch Nails music video from the 90s. While some liberties had to be taken that needed the Animal Crossing custom designs feature to make art for the walls, it only adds to the delightfulness of the video’s aesthetic compared to the original source. The original scene featuring a decapitated pig’s head revolving on a stick replaces the swine head with the animated, severed head of the much despised Zipper T. Bunny, so some of these changes are certainly an improvement. Hopefully Welch keeps up the good work and recreates even more classic 90s music videos. You bet we’d love to see K.K. take on Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit.
