Pokémon Announces Virtual Concert With CGI Post Malone
2021 marks a significant year for many video game companies and franchises, with one of them being the Pokémon series. The series is celebrating its 25th anniversary with several key events, including the release of a new Pokémon Snap game and a new line of Levi’s Pokémon apparel. One common special event that has occurred in major video games in recent years has been the virtual concert, such as the Travis Scott Fortnite event, or the more recent Lil Nas X virtual concert in Roblox. Now, a new Pokémon virtual concert featuring Post Malone has been announced.

The Pokémon Company announced the new virtual concert featuring Post Malone on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. The video shows the famed “Circles” artist leaving a limo and entering a concert venue’s backstage area, as his voiceover addresses his fans that helped him achieve his level of stardom. Preparing to walk on stage, Malone reveals a Pokeball in his hand, as he turns into a CGI animated version of himself.
As opposed to other virtual concerts like the Travis Scott Fortnite event, the Post Malone concert will not take place in-game. Instead, the event will be watchable for everyone on YouTube, Twitch and the official Pokémon website. This will be only one of several big musical events celebrating the Pokémon 25th anniversary, with one headlined by Katy Perry already confirmed, and perhaps more that could be announced at the Post Malone event.
The first show will stream live on February 27th at 7pm ET. These will certainly be some events Post Malone and Pokémon fans won’t want to miss. Hopefully, Bulbasaur and Charizard don’t get too lit on Pokecandies in the concert stage’s mosh pit whilst Posty drops the beat in “Rockstar.”
