Genshin Impact Announces New Dragonspire Area, Related Event Coming Soon

It looks like the newly released waifu sim….er, Genshin Impact will soon be expanding outwards from the Liyue region! Developer MiHoYo has announced that a new region is coming soon to the popular free-to-play open world title, part of the second of the three planned updates arriving now through February, 2021.

Genshin Impact developer MiHoYo recently took to its website forums to announce the good news. According to the post, the new area is called Dragonspire, and its estimated arrival date is December 23rd. This will mark the game’s third region, preceded by Liyue and Mondstadt. Prior to the release of Dragonspire, players can look forward to Version 1.1 slated to arrive on November 11, bringing with it the Unreconciled Stars event and a whole slew of quality of life improvements. Following the release of the Dragonspire update, players can also look forward to the Lantern Rite event, scheduled to drop at some point in February 2021.

“In future versions, we will combine the unique cultural and calendarial features of in-game regions with dates in the real world to host unique events in Mondstadt and Liyue,” MiHoYo explains in the post. As such, both the Ludi Harpastum and Windbloom Festival events will take place in Mondstadt, while the Lantern Rite and the Moonchase Festival will take place in Liyue, the game’s second region. It’s unknown what to expect from the events accompanying the arrival of Dragonspire, though according to MiHoYo at least one “related event” will ship in the same update.

Genshin Impact is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, and mobile platforms, with a Nintendo Switch version releasing early next year.
