Uncharted Movie Casts Antonio Banderas In Unknown Role
Despite its lengthy pre-production phase and the fact that it went through more directors than the recent Star Wars trilogy, the live-action Uncharted movie is moving full steam ahead with a cast that includes Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as, uh, Sully. We’re still figuring that one out. Anyways, it looks like the film based on the Naughty Dog games has bulked up its cast members, with one of the more prominent additions being none other than Antonio Banderas.
As reported by the folks over at Variety, the Uncharted movie has officially cast Antonio Banderas in a currently unknown role. Accompanying him on the recent cast list is Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle, the both of whom have also been cast in unknown roles. There’s only so much speculation to be made at this time, though since we already know who our two protagonists are, chances are Antonio Banderas will end up as the main villain opposite Drake & Sully.
For some added good news, Tom Holland recently confirmed that shooting is slated to begin on the Uncharted movie next month. Given that the latest batch of casting info was just recently announced, this sounds a bit on the optimistic side, though chances are shooting will begin within the next few months. The folks over at Sony are more than likely looking to complete production for the film as soon as possible given how long it has already spent in limbo, and both Sony and Marvel have other Spider-related plans for Tom Holland that will require his attention.
The Uncharted movie is slated to release almost exactly a year from now on March 5, 2020.
