In just under a month, the biggest names in the gaming industry will gather together to look back at the past year of video games and their achievements at The Game Awards 2019. Every year, the big event draws a lot of attention with its celebrity guests and new video game announcements. As such, the event has gained more attention from the greater mainstream media landscape. The Game Awards have opted this year to make the event an even bigger spectacle for audiences by live streaming it in movie theaters, now as a double feature with the new Jumanji sequel.

As reported by Prima Games, The Game Awards 2019 will be live-streamed at select theaters next month as part of a double feature with Jumanji: The Next Level. Cinemark Theaters will be hosting the event, which will consist of a showing of the new Jumanji Sequel followed by the livestream of The Game Awards 2019. Because the Jumanji screening will run before the Game Awards, this will make these fans among the first to see the new film.

The partnership seemed fitting due to the video game focus of the new Jumanji sequel. As Sony states: “Given that the premise of our last two Jumanji films is about getting transported into a video game, we couldn’t think of a better pairing than this. As soon as it became clear that our release date perfectly aligned with The Game Awards, we knew we had to do something special for fans.” This seems like the perfect pairing to really bring The Game Awards into the jungle that is the cinema.
