Project Resistance Confirms Story Campaign And Character Variations (VIDEO)
Project Resistance is the latest Capcom endeavor, diving into a different gameplay experience typically associated with the Resident Evil franchise. Instead of a narrative-driven, survival horror game, Capcom announced a new, online asymmetric survival horror that features four survivors and an evil “mastermind.”
In order to cater to a broad variety of fans, produce and lead game developer Kawata Masachika said there will be a story campaign mode and other features to look forward to. “The version we showed at TGS 2019 was an online game mode, but we are fully aware that there many are Resident Evil fans that expect the story in the game,” said Masachika. “In an effort to satisfy our fans, we will have an offline mode that is focused on the narrative component.”
In addition to a solo-style experience in Project Resistance, there will be multitude of variations for survivors and the Mastermind in terms of skills and cosmetic customization. “At TGS 2019, you only experience Daniel as Mastermind, but there are many variations of the Mastermind,” Masachika informed PlayStation. “The same goes for the survivors and there are more survivors with unique skills and looks that we are planning to add into the game.”
On top of that, Masachika answered comparisons made between Project Resistance and Outbreak, what kind of character Mastermind is, gameplay balance, and more. For additional commentary from the lead developer, check out the full interview here. For now, the teasers revealed for Capcom’s latest Resiedent Evil venture is a work-in-progress. Masachika wants interested gamers to know:
Project Resistance is still in development and we cannot give all the details, but I would like everyone who thought that the game looked unique or maybe thought playing the Mastermind seemed fun, to try this game out. We believe we gave it a Resident Evil taste by giving players the experience of overcoming unexpected challenges through cooperation. Please join the closed beta test and I hope you are excited about the release.”
