‘Year of Project Scorpio’ Claims the Xbox One Team for 2017

2016 was dubbed the Year of Hardware by the team over at PlayStation and plan 2017 to be centered all around software. The roles were reversed for their Xbox counterpart over at Microsoft where 2016 centered around software and aim to tackle the hardware terrain for 2017. Xbox Boss Phil Spencer has gone on the record many times with his excitement over the next step as well as including the community in what the future will hold for fans of this platform.

All aboard the hype train because Microsoft is definitely preparing to hop right back up on the rails after a successful holiday season. Josh Stein, Microsoft community manager, and Aaron Greenberg, Xbox Marketing, both took to social media to amp up their stoked levels to get fans as excited as they are about Project Scorpio claims. As Greenberg said, are you “ready for the beast?”

With CES hitting on January 4th, Spencer did make sure fans were aware that there is still “work to do” regarding not just hardware, but software as well. Despite their slow and steady pace, it does look like it will be a good year as the entire team seems on the same page with promising “fun times.” Basically, don’t hold your breath for any major announcements at the latest expo, but don’t let that discourage you either.

Though Spencer is being remarkably tight-lipped considering the interest in the latest project, we do know that Microsoft has gone on record stating that Project Scorpio will run first-party games in native 4K, or as they said it – “actual 4K”. There also hasn’t been a price point set either, but there is definitely some speculation as well as talks from the Xbox Team themselves.

Like many huge announcements, it looks like fans might just have to wait until E3 this year to see any huge reveals regarding the “beast”, which we are completely fine with because we are covering it again live this year directly from sunny Los Angeles, California.

What do you guys think about Scorpio? Is it something you are looking forward to or was the PlayStation 4 Pro more your fit? Join in on the discussion and let us know your thoughts in the comment section below, and as always – stay tuned with DFTG for all of your gaming news.
